2023 Viognier
Wine Maker Comments:
On the palate, this wine displays all the weight you'd expect when Viognier is aged for six months on lees, however the vibrant acidity present in this wine is easily able to uplift that heft with electronic verve! The finish on this wine displays just a touch of expressive French oak, trailing off with a beautiful sense of mouthwatering Madagascar vanilla bean. All in all, this is a wine that will be fun to sip and savor year round! The only non-estate wine in the Sea Shell lineup, this site was chosen due to its geologic similarity to the Sea Shell Vineyard in order to predict what Viognier grapes grown on the property would likely yield. Subsequently, a one-acre planting of Viognier has now been established on the Carter's property.
Vinification:
The Viognier was picked early, transported to the winery, and immediately whole-cluster pressed in order to preserve its fresh acidity and vibrant character.

Soil Types:
Overlapping alluvial fans with calcareous parent material. Rolling hills with decomposed limestone deposits along its steepest slopes.
